Main doors
- Entry doors: The main doors into your home, in wood, fibreglass or steel, with deadbolts and reinforced frames.

Specialty doors
- Storm doors: An extra layer against wind and rain, in front of the entry door.
- Sliding doors: Two or more panels on tracks; glass, wood or vinyl.

- French doors: Two hinged panels, usually swinging inward, often with decorative glass.

Wood
Pros: Natural beauty; mahogany, oak, cherry; carvings and glass.
Cons: Needs regular finishing; can warp, crack or rot.
Fibreglass
Pros: Wood or smooth looks; weather- and dent-resistant; well insulated; low maintenance.
Cons: Costs more than steel; can fade.
Steel
Pros: Strong, secure, insulated core, low maintenance.
Cons: Fewer custom options; can dent; cold to the touch.
Aluminum
Pros: Light, rust-proof, good near salt water.
Cons: Dents and scratches; needs a thermal break to insulate well.
What Does Door Installation Cost?
Prices depend on door type and size, material, glass, hardware, and any framing or trim repairs. All prices before GST.
- Exterior or front door replacement: About $800–$1,500 for a standard door; custom doors more.
- French doors: About $2,500–$6,500 depending on size, material and glass.
- Door closer: About $250 for a Grade 3 closer; about $500 supplied and installed for heavier-duty closers.
- Interior, prehung and pocket doors: Quoted per door after we see the opening.
